Mob Psycho 100 vol. 11
Vol. 10 ended with Claw and its leader Toichiro Suzuki having established their domination over the city and looking to extend it to the entire nation. Oh, and the Zodd-looking Shibata had tracked down Reigen, Dimple, and an unconscious Mob and was about to squish them into the floor. Meanwhile, Mob’s brother Ritsu and Toichiro’s son Sho had teamed up as the latter was so embarrassed by his dad’s actions that he now felt obligated to take him down. Then you had Teru and two groups of Claw defectees making their own moves on the organization’s new HQ. With all these different forces moving on them, Claw’s days would appear to be numbered. Well, if it wasn’t for the fact that the organization employs the most powerful psychics that we’ve seen so far in this series – and that Toichiro is the most powerful one of them all.
While there’s a huge power difference between the members of both sides, the fun in this volume doesn’t come from seeing them bust out bigger and better moves to win. No, Mob, Reigen, and company have two key advantages on their sides: The power of lateral thinking and teamwork. Don’t mistake the latter for The Power of FriendshipTM as vol. 11 does a good job of illustrating how much weaker people can accomplish if they work together – particularly in the fight against Shimazaki. As for lateral thinking? We get to see that towards the end as we get an all-time great Reigen moment that managed to surprise me even after I was spoiled for it at Fanime’s Dark Horse Manga panel.
There’s only one more volume left in this arc, but everything so far indicates that it’s going to be an incredible finish.
